Asamoah Gyan is now Africa's highest paid footballer, the Black Stars captain earns a staggering £226,923.07 ($350,000 or GH¢1.429,615.03) a week salary in China placing him just above Ivory Coast captain, Yaya Toure who earns £220,000.00 weekly.

Hailing from a country with so much financial constraints, laiden with a lot of debt, we cannot help but wonder what this amount of money  will do for our country.

Below is a list that runs across important sectors of the country- health, education, housing and energy.

1. 160 state-of-the- art ambulances for the National Ambulance Service.

A state of the art ambulance ranges between GHC420, 000 per unit. The captain of the black stars receives

GHC 1.4 million a week  and GHC67.3 million a year. This could provide 3 state of the art ambulances for the National Ambulance Service a week and  160 a a year.

2. 1,680 affordable housing units

A three room affordable housing unit costs, averagely, GHC40,000. Asamoah Gyan's salary of GHC1.4 million a week will provide 35 housing units a week, 140 a month and 1680 a year.

3. Governement's debt to WAGPCO

Last month the West African Gas Pipeline threatened to cut gas supply to Ghana if the VRA did not pay the  $103 million owed them and the N-Gas of Nigeria. After subsequent negotiations by high-powered delegation of government, WAGPCO rescinded its decision after government scrapped to pay $10 million of the debt. Guess what,  Asamoah Gyan could have easily put down a 20 million dollar deposit from his annual salary. That would have bought the country much more time than government got.

And the Black Stars Captain could have paid the total debt in the five years that government failed to pay.

4.  Government's  $18 million debt to ECG

Still in the Energy Sector, government owes the Electricity Company of Ghana a whopping 428 million dollars. Under the current payment plan agreed with ECG, government is supposed to pay an annual  deposit of 18 million dollars. Well, from the figures above, Asamoah Gyan can save government that trouble next year, by releasing his 2016 salary of 20 million dollars to the ECG.

5. National health insurance payment for 2.7 million Ghanaians

Oxfam figures from the 2014 reveal that about 60 percent of Ghana's population are still not on the National Health insurance Policy. About 25 percent of that figure cannot afford the GHC25 annual payment for the the health insurance benefits.

Well, perhaps Asamoah Gyan can be benevolent with one year's salary of  GHC67.3million and pay for 2.7 million Ghanaians for free.

6. Can single handedly foot free SHS bill

Government released GHC12 million to foot the fees of 312,000 day students for the introduction of the Free SHS program.

Asamoah Gyan's annual salary of GHC67.3 million can afford free SHS education for the country's total Senior High School population for both day students and boarders for two years straight.

7. 571 electric Hospital Beds for Pregnant women in a week

The ratio of beds to patients in Ghana is worsening. According to the World Health Organisation, in 1990, there was 1.5 beds to e thousand Ghanaians. In 2011, the ration worsened to 0.9 bed to 1000 Ghanaians.

Asamoah Gyan's weekly Salary of GHC1,400, 000 will provide 571 electronic hospital beds for pregnant woman in Ghana,  2284 in a month and 27, 4808 in Ghana.  If Asamoah gets benevolent enough, no Ghanaian pregnant woman will deliver on the floor again.
