Company of The Future Category introduced in the Ghana Club 100 awards

The Ghanaian business sector is currently preparing for the 15 Ghana Club 100 awards, slated for Friday 19 August, 2016.

The category is to motivate Small and Medium Enterprises, who have enough promise, to succeed in the next five to ten years.

The GIPC says, the  top-three winners of the 2015 Ghana SME Awards have been short-listed to compete for the maiden category.

The awards scheme, essentially ranks indigenous businesses based on their profitability and impact over a period of one year.

Many are expecting surprises this year, with telecommunication and internet providers expected to lead the chart.

The 2014 edition of the Ghana Club 100 rankings was dominated by financial companies, telecos and companies in the hospitality industries.

In terms sectorial analysis, 80% of companies who made it unto the list are from the services sector, predominantly in the financial services dominated by commercial and rural banks, as well as non-banking financial institutions.

The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre says “The Ghana Club 100 (GC 100) is an annual compilation of the top 100 companies in Ghana to give due recognition to successful enterprise building and was launched in 1998 by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC). The GC 100 is about corporate excellence. Companies making it into the GC 100 are to serve as role models for the private sector and provide a forum for corporate Ghana to interact with the government at a high level.”

The objectives of the award are to develop an open information culture within the Ghanaian corporate sector provide incentives for improved corporate performance, Develop a uniform criteria for evaluating corporate performance, Establish an annual and current analysis of Ghana’s corporate sector.
