Veep asks Ghanaian businesses to close trade gab with France

Speaking at the Ghana-Bordeaux Business forum in Accra, the Vice President lauded French investments in the country but said there appear to be a trade imbalance favouring France.

He said Ghana is interested in boosting its trade relations with France, adding there are 60 French companies doing business in the country in various sectors - banking, finance, petroleum, agriculture, transport and construction.

On the economy, Vice President Amissah-Arthur said government is working hard to address the short term challenges the economy is facing.

The French business delegation is led by the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Municipal Council of Bordeaux.

The visit is a spin-off from a series of successful meetings held between a group of Ghanaian corporate, municipal and academic delegates and their Paris counterparts during President John Dramani Mahama’s trip to France in October, 2015.

The areas of interest for the visiting French business delegation include; agro-business, hospitality and tourism, ICT, education, healthcare, packaging for export , pharmaceuticals , energy, waste management and infrastructure.
