Inflation rate inches up to 17.4% for Sept

The monthly change rate for September 2015 was -0.1%. This means that the general price level went down by 0.1% between August 2015 and September 2015. The monthly change rate recorded for August 2015 was -0.7%.

The annual (year-on-year) inflation rate for September 2015 was 17.4%. This means that the change in the general was 17.4% over the one year period, from September 2014 to September 2015. The year-on-year inflation rate for August 2015 was 17.3%.

The rate of inflation has two main components;Food inflation and Non-food inflation

The food inflation rate for September 2015 was 7.8% (compared with 7.7% recorded in August 2015).

The non-food inflation rate for September 2015  was 23.2% (compared with 23.4% recorded in August 2015).

The non-food inflation rate (23.2%) is about three  times  the food inflation rate (7.8%)

Inflation Rate for Imported and Locally Produced Items

•The inflation rate for imported items was 17.4% in September 2015 (compared with 18.1% recorded in August 2015).

•The inflation rate for locally produced items was 17.3% in September 2015 (compared with 17.0% recorded in August 2015).
