Google’s new mobile ad format lets you try an app for 60 seconds without downloading it
Google is looking forward to giving you more control over the ads you click on.
Ok, not really but Google's new move help you decide whether you actually need to download that app being constantly pushed in you face via advertisments. The company on Thursday (04.12.15) announced “Trial Run Ad,” which will let users sample an app for 60 seconds before receiving the download prompt.
“Users get a taste of the game before going through the download process, and the app developer attracts better qualified users who've chosen the game based on their experiences in the app,” Google writes in a blog post.
But that is not the only innovation Google has added to their ad system. The company is also making a play at Facebook and Instagram's; Google will utilize HTML5 to let advertisers create interactive interstitials, such as swipeable galleries or scratch-off ads.
Both the two new ad formats are available today in beta to a select set of advertisers.
