Suspected kidnapper of Anas’ boy remanded

The suspected kidnapper has been charged with two counts of attempted assault and kidnap of Hussein.

A Tamale Circuit Court has remanded into police custody Adamu Asuma, who is among a five-man gang alleged to have kidnapped Ishmael Hussein, a member of Tigereyepi.

The gang is accused of kidnapping Hussein on Saturday on the orders of one of the judges implicated in the Anas Aremeyaw Anas' judicial exposé.

Justice Twumasi Appiah, who presided over the case on Monday, ordered that Asuma reappears in court on Wednesday, October 14.

Adamu Asuma, 40, was the only member of the gang arrested by the police at Wurishe, a suburb of Tamale.

Ishmael Hussein was reported to have been kidnapped on Saturday morning but was later rescued after the news of his kidnapped got to the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Alhassan.

The Police were able to arrest one of the kidnappers but his counterparts are on the run.

Hussein was one of the undercover investigators who revealed the corruption in the country’s judicial system.

Over 30 Judges from the high and lower courts, over 100 court clerks, State Attorneys and personnel from the Police Service were captured on camera taking bribes to subvert the course of justice.

So far, seven Judges have been suspended.
