Police saves chief from angry mob

The police arrived just in time to save the 63-year-old chief, Nana Sepepe Poku from attack following the incident.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Tawiah, Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), who confirmed the news to Ghana News Agency said that on Friday, January 29, the Wenchi Police had a distressed call from an unknown person about the attempted destoolment by a group.

He said arriving at the scene, the police were able to arrest two people, Peter Ankamah, 58 years and Isaac Adabanka, a 34 year-old court registrar.

ASP Tawiah said the two have been charged with possession of fire arms without permit, discharging fire arms at a public place without authority and holding public event without authority.

The suspects have been remanded in Police custody to assist the Police in their investigations, ASP Tawiah added.
