MP Appeals To Churches To Donate A Month Of Offertory For Development

Mr Charles Kwasi Narh, has appealed to churches in the area, to dedicate one month in the year to give offertory to raise funds to assist in some of the developmental projects in the district.

The former Member of Parliament (MP) for Upper Manya Krobo Constituency, and Founder of the Asesewa Senior High School, Mr Charles Kwasi Narh, has appealed to churches in the area, to dedicate one month in the year to give offertory to raise funds to assist in some of the developmental projects in the district.

He said, people must not always look up to the Central Government for development, and that the churches with their strength must galvanize support for development in their operational areas.

Mr Narh who made the appeal at a social durbar in the area, argued churches with the potentials, to support in raising developmental projects for the benefit of their own people, and emphasized that the monthly offertory for such projects would be worth it.

According to him, there were untapped potentials in the area, yet, the district was known to be one of the deprived and poorest in the region, and urged the churches to take up the challenge.

He observed that most developments that had taken place in the district over the years, were through donor assistance, adding that, it was about time the people themselves initiated their own projects with the churches taking the lead.

The retired educationist and politician noted that the provision of projects such as toilet facilities, feeder roads and other minor projects must not be left solely on government, and challenged the people to rise up to the challenge.

Mr Narh, therefore, appealed to the Local Council of Churches, the Muslim community, and the well-established Orthodox churches, to embrace the initiative yo help provide relief to the people.
