Government has released GH¢ 25m to buy drugs for the short to medium term due to the fire which gutted the central medical store in Tema.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Health, Tony Goodman, Government has released GHC25 million to purchase drugs that were destroyed by an inferno in the Tema Medical Stores.

Mr. Tony Goodman on Citi Fm over the weekend stated that the amount was to help buy medical supplies in the short term.

He said "Government made available GH¢ 25 million and we are expecting that development partners will help us complement these financial resources so that we can get those medicines and stock the new warehouse we have now”.

Mr. Goodman said "after the fire outbreak at the Tema Central Medical Stores, we immediately noted short to medium term items that may be needed. The cost was about GH¢ 75 Million Ghana Cedis and we were trying to go to Government to get that amount of money to get the supplies".
