There is been confusion in Kumasi between the traders and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) over plans to reconstruct the Kumasi Central Market.

Some security personnel have barricaded the market to prevent traders from entering.

The move is to make way for a planned demolition exercise aimed at preparing the grounds for the reconstruction of the Kumasi Central market.

The traders have subsequently gone ahead to secure an injunction against the KMA.

Traders have in the past staged various demonstrations to protest a relocation to the Adehyeman market for phase one of the reconstruction of the Central Market at Kejetia to begin.

One of those demonstrations which was dubbed “Kwaterekwa” was to draw government’s attention to their plight.

The traders had planned to demonstrate again earlier this week but they suspended their decision after the court placed an injunction on the KMA.
