Senior Police Officer Indicted In Police Recruitment Investigations

Reports from the special investigative taskforce from the police recruitment scam has indicted COP Patrick Timbillah.

The special taskforce set up by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to investigate the recent police recruitment fraud has indicted senior officer COP Patrick Timbillah for his role in the scam.

Two other police personnel and 11 civilians have been found culpable in the scam.

The police say a docket on them is being prepared for onward release to the Attorney General’s Department for advice.

Director of Police Public Affairs Supt Cephas Arthur told Joy News the taskforce’s report has however been handed over to the Police Council for action.

“In all 14 people including three police officers have been investigated in the [recruitment] fraud. So these are the people whose docket is being prepared for court.”

Supt. Arthur noted, “We are working assiduously to ensure that as soon as possible having garnered all the requisite pieces of evidence forward it to the police council so that they can be expeditiously handled. So we wouldn’t give a time line but we can assure you that we will work fast and efficiently.”
