Some Magistrates, State Attorneys and court officials in the Upper West Region capital, Wa, have expressed anger at a decision to reallocate the Magistrate Court for renovation.

They have therefore threatened to suspend hearings on Wednesdays if the situation persists.

“We were just rudely told [Tuesday] afternoon, when the district court went to sit and work men were all over the place; when the Registrar came and informed us that they have information that the place has been reallocated to SADA [ Savanah Accelerated Development Authority] by the regional coordinating council” an assistant State Attorney, Saeed Abdul Shakur, told Accra-based Joy FM.

He added that the situation will adversely affect justice delivery if not solved.

“There were so many people waiting outside of the Magistrate’s chambers waiting for their turn to also seek justice. It was such a sorry sight...There are so many cases that if the court were to shutdown, it would be serious,” Saeed Abdul Shakur said.
