Businessman arrested for issuing false cheque

The complainant reported to the police that the suspect had deceived him to pay an amount of GHc10, 000. 00 into his account in order to purchase a Nissan Micra Saloon car for him.

 

John Okpa Wilson, a businessman, has been arrested by the Western Regional Police Command for allegedly issuing false cheque.

The complainant, Henry Odom, who is a resident of Nii Boi Town in the Greater Accra Region, had reported to the police that the suspect had deceived him to pay an amount of GHc10, 000. 00 into his account in order to purchase a Nissan Micra Saloon car for him.

According to him, Wilson failed to purchase the vehicle.

Wilson subsequently issued a cheque dated April 28, 2015, which was later proven to be false when Odom turned up at the bank to redraw, leading to the former’s arrest.

He has since been charged for defrauding by false pretences.
