According to him, their objection also stems on the fact that the state in an inventory of the the things seized in the fugitive's residence did have any drug substances for which he has been brought to court.

Arguing his case the defense lawyer indicated that they a are of the believe the fugitive must be tried in Ghana where he was arrested if there is any evidence to proof his guilt.

McDermott who is also a a son in law of the former Bank of Ghana Governor was arrested on March 11, this year, based on an extradition request issued by the British High Commission to the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Ghana for his role in a conspiracy to import £71 million worth of cocaine into the United Kingdom in 2013.

The court adjourned the case to the 13th of April 2016 for ruling.
