The Public Relations Officer of the MoH, Tony Goodman, who confirmed the suspension, however, said the Minister was out of the country at the moment but called for the trial to be halted until his return.
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) Tuesday gave approval for an Ebola vaccine trial to be undertaken in Ghana.
The 18-month long trial which would be undertaken at Hohoe in the Volta Region is expected to help find a vaccine for the Ebola viral disease which claimed more than 4,000 lives in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

But speaking on Citi FM Wednesday, Mr. Goodman explained that although the FDA has the mandate to carry out the trial, it had not actively involved the Ministry in the discussions which led to subsequent approval.
“We have only tried to be part of what they are doing. Just understanding the issues clearly. So, yes, they came to brief the Ministry,” he said.
Mr. Goodman further noted that, upon the return of the Minister of Health, a meeting would be held with all parties involved to clarify the misunderstanding on the matter.
