The adjournment by the judge followed a plea by the prosecution asking to be given more time to complete their investigations into the matter.

They have been charged with rescuing accused persons from lawful custody and disturbing a court.

They were part of about 50 members of the Delta Force who besieged the premises of the circuit to release their members who are standing trial for violent behaviour and assault.

A total of 21 men were arrested following the attack on the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, George Agyei.

They had said that Mr Agyei did not deserve the position because he played no role in the struggle to bring the NPP into power.

Out of the 21 men arraigned, only 13 turned up. But shortly after the Presiding judge remanded the men in police custody to reappear on April 20, their supporters stormed the court and freed them.

The freed suspects later turned themselves in and eight others who were accused of freeing the suspects were also arrested. The accused persons are expected to return to court on the 17th of May 2017.
