Denu Cell Break Three Escapees Re-arrested

Three out of the seven prisoners who escaped from a police cell in Denu in the Volta Region have been re-arrested.

Reports have it that the convicts have escaped into neighboring Togo.

The police search team closed-in on them this afternoon at their hideout in Agbozume-Klikor in the Ketu South municipality.

Volta regional Police Commander, DCOP Yentumi Gyinae said "our main focus now is that we have to look for them and re-arrest them.

"There were 2 police officers on duty when they escaped and we have questioned them to give us details of what happened."

He also added that they have contacted their counterparts in Togo to be on the lookout for the rest of the escapees.

The seven escapees overpowered two police officers on guard and made away with two AK47 rifles from the Police armory.

DCOP Yentumi Gyinae said they are working hard to arrest the other four suspects.
