He said the move is in line with the high regard Pope Francis has for Nana Addo, Ghana, and its democratic credentials.

Congratulating Nana Addo on his election victory, Archbishop Jean-Marie Speich urged President Akufo-Addo to appoint a new ambassador to The Vatican as there is no one at the moment.

Nana Akufo-Addo, on his part, expressed gratitude to Pope Francis for his message and the immense work he is doing for humanity.

He stressed that the government of Ghana would continue to deepen the relations it has with The Vatican to the mutual benefit of its citizens.
