Down But Not Out Bui Adds 260MW Of Power To National Grid

The Bui Dam is back and is adding 260 Megawatts to the national grid.

The Bui Power Generating Station in the Brong Ahafo Region is back and will add 260 megawatts close to its installed capacity of nearly 400 megawatts.

The Public Relations Officer of the Bui Power Authority, Salifu Wumbila said, “Based on this year’s energy demand, what Bui Power Authority has agreed with the systems control centre is that during the peak hours we produce 250MW of power but at the instances at the request of the system’s control centre we are able to produce more than what we are currently doing.”

“Our water level is around 173.90 and our maximum level is 183 meters above sea level. So the amount of power we are currently producing now is based on a generation plant that was prepared between Bui power authority in consultation with the systems control centre.”
