The current Ebola outbreak has claimed 8,235 lives, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

The WHO also said on Wednesday, January 7, that 20,747 known cases of the disease had been recorded worldwide.

"There are signs that case incidence may have levelled off in Sierra Leone, although with 248 new confirmed cases reported in the week to 4 January 2015, it remains by far the worst-affected country at present," the WHO said in a statement.
"An increasing emphasis will be put on the rapid deployment of smaller treatment facilities to ensure that capacity is matched with demand in each area,” it added.
Meanwhile, the President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma is set to visit the worst hit parts of the country on Friday, January 9.

A spokesperson for the President, Abdulai Bayraytay said that Koroma will visit Kambia, Port Loko, Lunsar, Makeni and Tonkolili for social mobilization as part of efforts to combat the spread of the virus.
