John Agyekum has charged the EC to take a cue from Nigeria’s INEC regarding how Saturday’s general elections was conducted.
Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has admonished the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana and all political parties to learn from Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding how Saturday’s general elections was conducted.
In an interview with Peace FM’s Kokrokoo, Kufuor stated that the election results were credible and said the polls was free and fair.
Mr Kufuor led an ECOWAS election observer delegation to monitor the elections in Nigeria. He however commended the head of INEC Prof Attahiru Jega for exhibiting professionalism in Saturday's polls.
According to Kufuor, Ghana’s Electoral Commission headed by Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan, who has been at the helm of affairs for well over two decades, has become a ‘tin god’ stuck in its old ways and not accommodating to any form of change.
He has suggested that the EC adopts the Nigeria model of organising national elections.
