Social media site deletes business page likes

Facebook has announced that they will be updating the way business page likes are counted by removing memorialized and voluntarily deactivated accounts from Pages’ like counts.

Facebook

Facebook is deleting  business page likes by deactivating accounts.

The account deactivation will yield a precise page audience data of active users and makes finding followers easy, even with the use of the lookalike audience tool.

Likes and comments generated by deactivated or memorialized accounts will also be filtered to keep data consistent to give accurate numbers.

This upgrade will reduce the number of unnecessarily inflated number of likes, contents will reach active and actual followers as feedbacks may possibly come in handy.

After this exercise, business, not personal users, might observe a dip in page likes (not friends).

Observations were raised from some page administrators, as regard losing regular followers who noticed their like had disappeared even though they visited the page quite often, some complain that their share button is missing on the content.

Inactive accounts could be those who are dead and have deleted their timelines.

Those who bought fake likes on their business page will experience drastic drop of numbers after this updating exercise.

Facebook says, “Everyone benefits from meaningful information on Facebook. It’s our hope that this update makes Pages even more valuable for businesses”.
