New Chief of Army staff sworn in

The president in consultation with the Council of State, approved his appointment on 1 July, 2016

President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in the Chief of Army staff Major General Obed Boamah Akwa on Monday, 4th July 2016 at Flagstaff House in Accra.

The president in consultation with the Council of State, approved his appointment on 1 July, 2016.

At the swearing in ceremony the General said “I promise to build major garrison (battalion) in all ten regions of Ghana as part of Government policy to improve the capacity of the armed forces and I will improve the security of the nation”.

Major General Obed Boamah Akwa was until his appointment the commandant Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center in Accra.
