Doctors at the Korle-Bu Plastic Surgery has confirmed that the second person of the Dansoman gas explosion has died.
The second victim who got injured in a gas explosion at Dansoman has died. He passed away on Friday at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
The first victim of the explosion died earlier this week after doctors at the Korle-Bu Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre worked tirelessly to keep him alive.
The head of the Korle Bu Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre, Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomaa who confirmed the incident said the victim died a few minutes after 7pm on Friday.
The two persons were injured in a gas explosion which occurred at Dansoman on Easter Monday.
An eyewitness, Priscilla Amanda Aggrey, stated that the explosion occurred around 6am at a gas station situated close to a fuel station in the area.
According to her, “a car was packed by the gas tank so as soon as the driver sparked the engine, the gas tank began to leak. The tank then exploded and two people were injured.”
Meanwhile, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has closed down the Gas refilling plant to allow for investigations into the matter.
The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), however, said it will push for the prosecution of owners of the gas station.
