Ghana celebrates 59 years of independence today

The theme for this year's celebration is "Investing in the Youth for Ghana's Transformation."

 

The main event will be held at the Black Star Square in Accra where there will be a national parade of school children, voluntary organisations and security services.

There will as well be parades in all regional capitals across the country to commemorate the day.

Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta who arrived in the country on Saturday is the special guest of honour for the 59 anniversary celebrations.

President of Guinea Bissau, Mr José Mário Vaz, and his delegation also arrived in Ghana on Saturday for the event.

Ghana’s Missions abroad will also host National Day events.
