Service suspend checking of vehicle documents, license et al

This was contained in an internal memo seen by Pulse.com.gh. The memo was signed by the Commissioner of Police, Ransford Moses Ninson.

Even though the memo contained no reason for this directive, it requested that “MTTD personnel are to be used only for traffic management duties.”
The Police Wireless Message which was meant for the top hierarchy of the service also indicated that the Highway Patrol Units are to check for other things but not vehicle documents and driver’s license.

Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Cephas Arthur explained on Citi-FM what the directive was: "What we are suspending is checking documentation of vehicles, the tyres of vehicles, your wiper, your tail light and others," he said.
On Joy FM he has also said this should help regulate the traffic flow in most congested parts of the country, but routine crime checks will remain in force.
