Ahead of Ghana’s 58th Independence Day Parade which will be held at the Black Stars Square, the Police have announced that they will temporarily close some roads in Accra on March 6, 2015.

Some major roads in Accra will be closed to vehicles on Independence day.

A statement from the Public Relations Officer at the Accra Regional Police Command, ASP Effia Tenge, announced that the roads to be affected are the 28th February road from CEPS Headquarters to Castle Junction, Osu Cemetery Traffic Light on the Lokko Street and the Castle road from AU circle to Osu cemetery traffic light.
The statement said the roads will be closed from 6:00am on March 6, “to ensure the smooth management and conduct of both human and vehicular traffic before, during and after the event.”
It called on the public to “note these arrangements and plan for alternative routes before embarking on their journeys… Vehicles with assigned stickers will be allowed to pass through Police check points after meticulous screening.”
It added: “Any inconveniences caused are deeply regretted.”
