Ghanaians have to be responsible – Joyce Aryee

According to her, every Ghanaian has failed in planning to save the country from perennial floods.

The Executive Director of the Salt and Light Ministries and a former local government minister, Joyce Aryee says the level of irresponsibility in Ghana leaves much to be desired.

According to her, every Ghanaian has failed in planning to save the country from perennial floods. The littering in the city, she says, has caused gutters to choke and the environment dirty. She has also indicated that the leadership has failed and is also to be blamed for the June 3 flood and fire disasters.

“All of us have failed. We have all failed. We litter the city. Even in front of our own houses, someone has to come and clean. We have to be responsible. Our leaders are also to be blamed... The time to act was yesterday and it is that urgent,” the founder of the Salt and Light Ministries, a para-church organisation said on Starr Chat on Starr FM.

Over 200 people lost their lives last Wednesday in the twin flood and fire disasters. Some have argued that the flood was caused by structures on waterways and filth which caused gutters to choke.
