Embattled Reggae artiste, Ekow Micah broke down in tears today when an ACCRA circuit court acquitted and discharged him for unlawful possession of narcotics. In his judgment presiding judge Justice Aboagye Tandor said the prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt the guilt of the accused. Micah was initially assisting the police in an alleged rape and sodomy case against Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan. However, the police, during a search at his residence, found substances confirmed to be weed.

The police administration can no longer seek injunctions from circuit courts to prevent demonstrations. This is because the human rights court presided over by Justice Dennis Dominic Agyei has ruled in favour of pressure group, Let My Vote Count Alliance in the case it brought against the Attorney General and the Ghana Police Service over the mandate of the circuit court interpreting the Public Order Act. The Accra regional police PRO Afia Tenge speaking to Pulse.com.gh said the police will respect the court’s decision.
