The Electricity Company of Ghana- ECG has revealed  ECG officials will soon visit  the premises  of customers  to ascertain the integrity of  its meters and look out for illegal connections.

The power distributor is hopeful that a nationwide audit of its customer base is what it needs to significantly bring down incidents of revenue leakages which come  in the form of illegal connections, meter tampering among others.

According to the Managing Director of ECG, Robert Dwamena, unlike previous widespread disconnection exercises, this particular customer audit exercise will see ECG officials  visit the premises of all its customers to check integrity of its meters as well as look out for fishy connections.

Speaking at a media briefing  in Accra, Mr. Dwamena, who will not disclose the exact period when the exercise will be carried out, revealed that the ECG will embark on the audit exercise with the help of the security forces.

"Persons arrested in our operation will be arraigned befor the Utilities Court and dealt with accordingly", the ECG boss emphasized.
