Ghanaians staying in Saudi Arabia to be deported

The team of Ghanaians who are about 20 different teams would be leaving the country by the end of June

These immigrants are beneficiaries of a 90- Day amnesty by the Gulf Country in March to all undocumented immigrants to ease their exit out of the country without embarrassment or fines.

The Amnesty is a part of a campaign, ‘A Nation Without Illegal Expatriates’ meant to rid the country of the numerous people that have travelled from Africa and other nations to seek employment.

The Embassy has made all arrangements concerning flights and ticketing at a discounted cost of SR50 as against SR200. In a Press release issued by the Embassy, they admonished all Ghanaians illegally residing in the country to take advantage of the amnesty to evade further consequences.

“Both the Embassy and the Consulate should not be blamed for any unforeseen occurrences after the expiration of the General Amnesty program given that the Mission does not have any more resources to troubleshoot self-inflicted consular problems,” it added.

According to the Ghana Embassy, the number of illegal immigrants trooping their offices to leave the country via the pardon are unbelievable.

They have therefore strictly cautioned all Ghanaians especially young who are duped by ‘connection men’ and promised luxurious living to desist from making any intention to travel there.

They added that unskilled workers only get to work as chaperones and housekeepers under very gory conditions which are opposite what is promised to them.

The Amnesty issued by Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states like Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar would end on June 25, 2017.
