Reports emerging suggest that a Police Officer who was involved in a shootout with suspected armed robbers has been shot dead around West Hills mall, Weija.

Reports emerging suggest that a Police Officer who was involved in a shootout with suspected armed robbers has been shot dead around West Hills mall, Weija.

Constable Prince Akata, the name of the deceased Police Officer, is said to be in his late 20s. His body has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue. The horrible incident is said to have occurred at Weija at the West Hills mall area at about 12 am on Wednesday, January 7, when some suspected armed robbers were on an operation.

Two others who are suspected armed robbers were also shot dead in the incident while two others escaped. Meanwhile six other persons have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The armed robbers have also revealed that they were responsible for the death of the Madina Melcom branch security man who was killed early this month.
