Six grabbed for theft during Nana Addo's inauguration
The Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Cephas Arthur said the suspects are being processed for court for allegedly stealing from some guests at the swearing-in ceremony.

He said the police “recorded about 10 cases of petty crimes like pick-pocketing or situations where people’s mobile phones were picked up and other things. And of those cases, we managed to arrest the perpetrators. Yesterday [Saturday], the perpetrators were being processed and further sent to the Nima and Ministries police station for further action.”
“So out of the 10 petty cases of stealing that we recorded, at the time that I was there, about six of them had been arrested and those people were going to be processed for court,” Supt. Arthur told Accra-based Citi FM.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was sworn in as the fifth president of Ghana under the Fourth Republic on Saturday, January 7, 2017.
Akufo-Addo was sworn in by Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood after he took the presidential oath and the oath of secrecy before parliament.
About 5,000 personnel from the police and the military were deployed during the inauguration to ensure security for the over 6,000 guests who were at the event.
The colourful ceremony witnessed some heads of state, the diplomatic corps, members of Parliament and senior citizens.
