New Abuakwa North MP sworn in

Gifty Twum Apofo replaces the late J.B Danquah-Adu who was stabbed at his Shiashie residence in February this year.

She was advised by the speaker of parliament to emulate the principles of the late J.B Danquah-Adu.

Ms Ampfo will be in parliament for the next six months before the country goes into elections this year.

Gifty Twum Ampofo polled 10,033 votes representing 89.60% of total votes cast to become the MP-elect, having beaten Isaac Kwartey of the United Front Party (UFP) who managed to garner 901 votes representing 8.05%.

The other contestant Samuel Frimpong who stood on the ticket of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) had 263 votes representing 2.35%.

The total valid votes cast were 11,197 with the rejected standing at 110.
