Ghanaian lecturer blames former president for rampant deaths on Accra-Kumasi highway

A Ghanaian lecturer has put blame of the high casualties on the Accra-Kumasi highway at the foot of former president John Agyekum Kufuor and appointees in his government.

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor

Dr. Evans Aggrey Darko, a Political Science lecturer with the Legon-based university asked that blame should be laid on the Kufuor-led administration and a former Road and Transport Minister, Dr. Richard Anane.

"My worry is the roundabout at Ejisu and one at the KNUST Police Station", he lamented.

The educationist stated that the roundabout at Ejuisu is a "death trap" and unnecessary to build in that location.

"It is the cause of the accidents", he stated.

"I am not expert in road construction but sometimes you do not need an expert to tell you those roundabouts are bad", Aggrey stated.

According to him, contractors who take on government work recently, produce shoddy work especially in the Kumasi, the capital city of the Ashanti Region.

"Who are these engineers who designed these roads and their capabilities and what were they thinking at that time?".

Dr. Evans Aggrey Darko blamed President Kufuor, former Road and Transport Minister, Dr. Richard Anane and  Member of Parliament for Ejuisu, Hon. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi for allowing such bad constructions to be undertaken.

"They have brought something which is killing Ghanaians and I will contest them because it does not show responsibility at all. …government exits for the people not to kill", he said.
