Apex Court throws out "corrupt" judges quest to get full salary

The two sought to challenge the Judicial Council for slashing their salary after they were implicated in the Judicial corruption scandal

The Supreme Court has dismissed the suit by two Justices of the High Court challenging the Judicial Council for withholding their full salaries.

The  two Justices Paul Uuter Derry and  Gilbert Ayisi Addo were part of the many judges implicated in the Anas expose' on Judicial corruption.

The court did not assign reasons for their decision  to dismiss the suit but indicated it  will do that in seven days.

Justice  Derry and Justice  Ayisi Addo sued the Judicial Council and the Chief Justice for slashing their salaries by half and the freeze on the payment of their allowances except rent.

According to the two in their suit the decision of the Judicial Council was unconstitutional. They  further prayed the court for an order to nullify the decision of the Council.

Last September Ghana's judiciary was tainted after a huge expose' by international award winning journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas exposed corruption in the judiciary.

The expose reveal a number of High Court  judges and magistrates who were captured on tape taking bribes to subvert justice.
