Lawyer for investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Kissi Adjabeng has said his client has expressed mixed feelings over the removal of 20 lower court judges implicated in his recent judicial corruption.

Twenty (20) out of the 21 lower court judges indicted in the recent judicial corruption scandal, exposed by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, have been removed from office.

The five member committee, chaired by Justice Sophia Adiyira, that investigated the matter, submitted its work to the Judicial Council today [Monday] upon which the decision to suspend them was taken.

However, Lawyer Kissi Adjabeng said the announcement is a sad day for the judiciary in Ghana.

According to him, he and his client, Anas, are in a reflective mood.

"It is a mixed feeling. On one hand, as an investigative journalist, he (Anas) is proud of his work that it has yielded results. So if he has had this result, great job...As I'm sitting here, I'm wondering, reflecting, as I have appeared before these judges. Which case that shouldn't have gone against you, have gone against you?", Lawyer Adjabeng observed on Accra-based Starr FM.

On the case of the superior court judges indicted in the scandal, Lawyer Adjabeng said "Anas is looking forward to having them found culpable. He stands by everything he does. He is hoping that the same replicates in the case of the superior court judges".

Some 22 lower court judges and 12 High Court judges were captured in Anas’ two-year investigative piece, allegedly taking bribes to influence justice.
