Humiliate and shame indicted judges- Bernard Mornah

I think that this expose should be shown to everybody in the world. Those that are found on the tape should be punished accordingly, humiliated and be subjected to public ridicule

The general secretary of the People's National Convention, PNC, Bernard Mornah has said judges found culpable in the latest Anas' expose should be humiliated and made to face the full rigours of the law. His comment comes on the back of the expose on judiciary which will soon be released by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas. Thirty four Ghanaian judges face impeachment in the coming weeks as they have been videotaped and audio recorded in separate conversations with suspects before them to compromise big cases.

Speaking in an interview with Pulse.com.gh, the general secretary of the PNC said the latest development is rather disturbing.

“The worship for materialism is the reason for which we have high moral decadence and above all abuse of the authority of those who are in positions of trust. Judges that are supposed to hold life and death in their hands as they pronounce judgements, have now turned to take bribes in order to determine whether somebody should serve a certain term, whether armed robbers should be released, whether drug barons should not suffer a certain penalty. I think that this expose should be shown to everybody in the world. Those that are found on the tape should be punished accordingly, humiliated and be subjected to public ridicule”, he said.

Mr Mornah further lamented that even though Anas has unveiled various rots in the society, the manner in which those issues have been dealt with has not been encouraging. He said he is hopeful that the country will take a serious look at the recent expose and deal with culprits involved.

Meanwhile, in what has already been described as the “biggest scandal ever to hit Ghana’s judicial service,” Anas has served notice the video and other hardcore evidence will shake the “democratic foundation of Ghana.”
