The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has begun investigations into a ‘Kalyppo selfie’ of a young soldier which has gone viral on social media.

Speaking to Pulse.com.gh, the Public Affairs Director of the GAF, Col Aggrey Quarshie explained that the alleged soldier is being investigated because he was in a military uniform without authorisation.

“We have seen a picture. And so we need to be sure if he is indeed a soldier or somebody who is impersonating. And then we will know the course of action. If he is a soldier, there are rules and regulations that govern the use of photographs and any other things that we use military accoutrements for.

“Once you are in a military uniform, you can’t display it to a third person without authorisation,” he said.

He said the alleged soldier, if found culpable would be sanctioned.

A picture of the NPP’s Presidential nominee sipping Kalyppo fruit juice which was meant to possibly mock Nana Akuffo Addo has interestingly started a social media challenge.

The challenge which is named ‘KalypoChallenge’ has caught on with a number of people believed to be pro-NPP.

People who are supporting the challenge take pictures of themselves while sipping Kalypo and post them on social media.

A Facebook page has been created to enhance the challenge. The page is called ‘Kalypo Movement for Nana.’
