Death toll rises to 61

Over 50 people died on the spot according to the Medical director of the Kintampo Hospital

The number of deaths in the Kintampo accident has risen to 61 according to the Medical director of the Kintampo Hospital Dr. Owusu Ofosu.

He told journalists over 50 people died at the scene of the accident.

The gory accident occurred yesterday evening when a Metro Mass Transit vehicle carrying 80 passengers had a head-on collision with a truck loaded with tomatoes which haD five people on board.

The Medical director of the Holy Family hospital Techiman Dr. Ernest Ameyaw also confirmed that three person on referral to the hospital died on the way bring the number of deaths to 61.

Pulse.com.gh has learned that families of the victims are having a difficult time identifying them.

President Mahama has in a tweet sent his condolences to the families who have lost loved ones.

The main opposition leader Nana Akuffo Addo has also wished those injured a speedy recovery.
