MMT Company Limited denies overloading allegation

The Metro Mass Transit Company limited HAS rejected accusations of a possible overloading of the bus involved in a gory accident on Wednesday on the Kintampo - Tamale highway.

In an interview with Citi Fm Acting Communications Director of the company Mavis Akologo said " the bus cannot be overloaded because it is an inter City bus  from one point to the other.

The accident occurred on Wednesday evening around 7:40pm.

The police say 61 people have died so far leaving 25 battling for their lives. They further revealed that five person were on board the truck carrying tomatoes  Per these figures 86 people were involved in the accident and the police says the bus may have taken more passengers than necessary.

Akologo however said that an eight member committee has been set up to conduct internal investigation  on the issue to establish if indeed the bus overloaded.

She also said the company will take care of the medical finances of those injured.

The accident on Wednesday is the deadliest car crush so far in 2016.
