New KMA Presiding Member vows unity after swearing in

Amakomhene Nana Adu Mensah Asare says he will rely on his experience to achieve this, adding that he brings nothing new on board since the KMA has laws which must be ensured that it works.

He said: “I will not bring nothing special on board because I know there are laws already in the assembly.

"I will use the experience I have to revive KMA because we all know that KMA is dead. I will work with the assembly members to bring togetherness and I know it will work” he added.

Nana Adu Mensah was on Wednesday, October 12 nominated by the Kumasi Traditional Council as the compromised candidate after six failed attempts to elect a Presiding Member for the assembly.

He got the nod after assembly members endorsed him with 100 YES votes as against 22 No votes in ballots cast on Thursday, 13 October.

The Assembly has been without a Metropolitan Chief Executive and a Presiding Member.

Attempts by KMA to elect a PM have always ended in chaos as supporters of the two contenders were always in an entrenched position.

“I am going to treat all members equally. I do not have favourites and I will not have favourites. I will discharge my duties without fear or favour,” Nana Adu Mensah said.
