Illegal land grabbing allegations irresponsible – Anas

Counsel of Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Lawyer Kwame Djan described the claims by the EDDT as "frivolous."

He said it as an attempt by EDDT to throw dust in the eyes and deceive the public.

The EDDT made the allegations against Anas for illegally grabbing and selling lands at the East Dadekotopon area.

EDDT addressing the press said, "Due to the continuous encroachment and harassment by Land guards of Anas Aremeyaw Anas over lands lawfully granted to individual citizens by EDDT, it has become necessary to caution the public of the fraudulent development."

According to EDDT, it has a court judgement and has been given trust over parcels of land behind the Trade Fair Center at La in Accra.

It said it even has a land title certificate to that effect, and so wonders why a gentleman called Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsru III and some of his cronies from the La Traditional Council would engage in the illegal and fraudulent sale of the said lands without proper and genuine documents covering them.

The EDDT said some buyers of the land are now claiming their monies because of what they perceive as a danger in acquiring the land.

The Trust also claimed that Anas is brandishing a High Court judgement granted by Justice Ofori Atta, which has been quashed by an Appeal Court and is using that judgement to defraud unsuspecting people through the sale of the said lands.

According to the EDDT, the move by Anas constitutes contempt of court.

"The activities of Anas Arimeyaw Anas in bringing land guards to harass and intimidate peace-loving grantees of land under the management of EDDT are gradually posing a serious threat to human life and property," the EDDT said.

But Counsel for Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Lawyer Kwame Djan described the claims by the EDDT as "frivolous."

He said their claims are "vexatious and abuse of the court processes and we see it as an attempt to throw dust in the eyes of the public."

A High Court presided by Justice K.A. Gyimah J. held also that the plaintiff in the said land litigation titled Adolph Tetteh Adjei vrs Anas Aremeyaw Anas and Holy Quaye  "is unstopped from re-litigation the matter and the present action is an abuse of the Court’s process and the same is hereby dismissed."

However, on July 31, 2017, he awarded GH¢5000.00 cost against the plaintiff in favour of the defendants.
