Doctor allegedly refuses to hand over newborn baby of psychiatric patient to Social Welfare

The Central Regional office of the Department of Social Welfare has said that it is its duty to determine where and how a child of such a mother is kept.

But Dr Dordoye kept the child to himself whilst the mother was on admission.

Authorities at the Department of Social Welfare said various attempts to get the doctor to release the baby were not successful.

The Central Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare, Mr. Smith Dankwa said he is disappointed at the decision by Dr Dordoye to release the child to the supposed Good Samaritan because the department should be the one to handle such actions.

These allegations are coming on the back of threats by nurses at the Ankaful Psychiatric hospital  to lay down their tools if the Director of the facility, Dr. Eugene Dordoye is not removed from office.

For the nurses at the facility, the Medical Director is running the facility as if it is his home, and has rather turned a deaf ear to their needs.

The nurses on Wednesday hit the streets in protest of his continuous stay in office.
