Teenagers in Tamale engage in wee-smoking contest

Teenagers in the Northern Regional capital of Tamale are believed to have cultivated the habit of smoking illegal drugs, including Indian hemp.

This comes after a viral photo captured some teens in the area sitting beside spread dried leaves, smoking and drinking heavily.

A report by Mynewsgh.com states that most of the teenagers have turned the Water Works forest in Tamale into a wee-smoking base, with some young girls also involved in the act.

The report further suggests that the area has also become a hub for sex trades, with teenagers constantly found smoking.

Speaking on the issue, the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) Iddrisu Musah Superior admitted it was worrying to see young people engaging in such acts, and vowed to do something about the situation.

In an interview with Mynewsgh.com he revealed that plans were underway the stop these weed smokers from entering the forest.

On the issue of teenagers engaging in the use of drugs, he noted that he will will do his best to get the situation under control, saying evicting them from their place of convergence will be just the first step.

He added that he has already held meetings with some of the teenagers who gather at the Water Works forest to do their own things, and had already notified them about his intentions to evict them if the they do not stop their acts.

It must be noted that this is not the first time that reports of teens in Tamale engaging in such acts have surfaced.
