Ghana’s former President, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings has said that Ghana is gradually losing journalists with a fair-minded approach to issues and a good sense of balance.

Rawlings said this in a tribute to the late Kwadwo Asare Baffour Acheampong, popularly known as KABA.

He said, “a few too many media personnel are serving one purpose or another which seems to undermine the integrity of the profession. And indeed when somebody like this (Kaba) dies then we must consider it a serious loss.”

The former President made this known when a delegation comprising the family of the late Multimedia Group broadcaster called on him to formerly inform him of his demise and arrangements for his funeral.

The delegation was led by Nana Ansah Kwao IV, Akwamu Adumasahene and Nana Oteng Bosomprah.

They indicated that the late host of Asempa FM’s flagship programme, “Ekosii sen” had served his country in a public capacity and so it was ideal that they officially notify national statesmen about his death.

Rawlings said that even though he did not personally know the late broadcaster, he related well with his staff and colleagues and was amazed to see many political leaders sign the book of condolence.
