However, the newly constituted Nana Addo-led administration has decided to appoint Dr Asare as the new director general GHS.

The decision seems to have raised concerns among staff of the institution who claim he is too old to head the institution.

Dr. is believed to be over 60 years and, this, the staff claim is enough reason for him not to be appointed as director general.

A report by Starr News claims that majority of the staff of GHS are unsatisfied with President Akufo-Addo’s decision to appoint him, and have been lamenting about the development.

Meanwhile, Dr Asare insists his age should not be a hindrance to his appointment, adding that his skills in the sector will come in handy “to the betterment of the country”.

According to him, “It is not everybody who will like anybody’s appointment. It is only in this country that people think that when you are old, you have nothing in your head. If anybody has any problem with my appointment, they should direct it to the appointing authority,  but I think the appointing authority saw something very good in me, and i believe with God on my side, I will use the skills and knowledge I have acquired over years to the betterment of the country as I go into that office,” he explained.
