President John Mahama says the demands by the GMA will adversely affect the Single Spine pay policy

President John Dramani Mahama has said he will not go beyond the budget allocation in dealing with the Ghana Medical Association's demand for conditions of service.

The President said yielding to the demands by the doctors will mean derailing efforts made by government so far on the Single Spine Pay Policy. He was speaking at the 80th anniversary of the Ghana Registered Midwives Association of Ghana today.

In a series of tweets attributed to the President from the flagstaff house, the President said he is "determined to hold the line no matter the political cost."

Government has continuously stated that over 60 per cent of the government revenue is spent of public sector wages and the President is bent on sticking to the expenditure in the 2015 budget.

Doctors are currently on a partial strike demanding some conditions of service.

The President's posture is likely to affect other public sector workers including the State Attorneys who are also demanding their conditions of service among others.
