OccupyGhana Drags Oteng Adjei To Court

Pressure group OccupyGhana has dragged Dr Joe Oteng Adjei to court for keeping a state vehicle while he was out of office.

Pressure group is among other things asking the court to demand $500 daily from the Ex- Minister for the 222 days that he used the state vehicle.

In a writ of summons at the High Court (Fast Track Division) dated March 12 2015, a leading member of the vociferous group, Sydney Casley-Hayford is both the first and second plaintiff.

The defendants in the case are Dr. Joe Oteng-Adjei the former Energy Minister  and the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice.

Dr Oteng-Adjei alleged the opposition MP has “a special agenda” to soil his image. However, he said the way he has led his “life in this country God will protect” him.

According to him, he was still keeping the flashy Lexus vehicle because when he moved from the Energy Ministry to the Ministry of Environment and Science “their financial situation was a bit difficult” so he worked out with his previous ministry to keep the car “so that we don’t spend money to go and buy another car.”
