ECOWAS to elect new chairman

The Ecowas will elect a new chair as President Mahama’s tenure ends today.

President John Dramani Mahama joined other Heads of State from the sub-region

ECOWAS heads of state are meeting in Accra Today, Tuesday May 19, 2015.

The meeting will elect a new Chairman for the Authority as President John Mahama’s tenure comes to an end.

The tenure of the Chairman of ECOWAS, President John Mahama will end today, 19 May 2015.

President John Mahama was elected Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States and took over from his immediate neighbour and Ivorian President Allasane Ouattara who was elected on 17 February 2012.

He was elected during the 44th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast. Read more
